Gerrah Wiley, MSW finds mental health to be an important aspect of our overall wellbeing that can often be overlooked when we get caught up in work, school or other areas of life. It's important to her to create a safe space for her clients to honour their mental wellness and address the difficult aspects of their lives. She sees Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) as having a role in this process. She believes that DBT recognizes the inner wisdom that all people have in improving their mental health, and she appreciates being able to help people access this wisdom and use it in all areas of their life.

Gerrah has a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Waterloo - Renison University College and a Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work (BSW) from Laurentian University. She has worked on comprehensive DBT teams, has received intensive DBT training and is trained is other modalities including DBT-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). In her spare time she enjoys walking her dog, spending time with her friends and family, and watching and judging gymnastics.

Favourite DBT Skill

"The mindfulness 'What' skills are my favourite, because of the way these skills have helped me experience more moments of joy, that I may have missed out on before!"
